2024 Fantasy Season: Tight Ends
In our final rankings of the 2024 season, we potentially have the deepest position - Tight End. And I don’t think we’ve ever been able to say that. There are some phenomenal pass catchers here. Last year, we saw a Tight End eclipse 100 catches (Engram) and a rookie make an All-Pro Team (Laporta) all while Travis Kelce still did his thing. With second year guys such as Dalton Kincaid and Michael Mayer ready to make an impact, it should be a great year for tight ends. Hell, it may even be the year to consider playing a Tight End in your flex spot…
Lets get to the rankings!
Tier 1 - Pure Pass Catchers
Sam LaPorta - Detroit Lions (Bye: 5) - Coming off an All-Pro season as a rookie. Changes the game. Don’t think there is a let down in Year 2.
Trey McBride - Arizona Cardinals (Bye: 11) - Burst onto the scene mid last season. Undoubted number 1-2 option on the Cardinals offense with Kyler back healthy.
Travis Kelce - Kansas City Chiefs (Bye: 6) - Old reliable. Maybe not as explosive as he once was, but Mahomes trusts him more than his wife.
Tier 2 - Ton of Targets
4. Evan Engram - Jacksonville Jaguars (Bye: 12) - Guy caught 114 passes last year. What more do you want?
5. Mark Andrews - Baltimore Ravens (Bye: 14) - Coming off an injury, but he is still the favorite target of Lamar Jackson and the top red zone threat.
6. Dalton Kincaid - Buffalo Bills (Bye: 12) - No Diggs. No Davis, The Bills thought to spend a 1st round pick on him in 2023. He’s ready to explode.
Tier 3 - Feast or Famine
7. Jake Ferguson - Dallas Cowboys (Bye: 7) - Quite possibly the best value pick of your entire draft.
8. Dalton Schultz - Houston Texans (Bye: 14) - Everyone thought Schultz was crazy for leaving Dallas. He’s on a better offense now.
9. David Njoku - Cleveland Browns (Bye: 10) - We get into the territory of feast or famine.
10. George Kittle - San Francisco 49ers (Bye: 9) - Will have a more prominent offensive role if Aiyuk is gone.
11. TJ Hockenson - Minnesota Vikings (Bye: 6) - Experts are down on the Hock because of his injury. I am not. He is still a beast. Mid QBs always look for their TE.
12. Cole Kmet - Chicago Bears (Bye: 7) - A lot of mouths to feed, but the Bears look Kmet’s way in the red zone A TON.
Tier 4 - Show Me Something!
13. Kyle Pitts - Atlanta Falcons (Bye: 12) - THIS BETTER BE THE YEAR.
14. Dallas Goedert - Philadelphia Eagles (Bye: 5) - Solid player on a solid offense.
15. Luke Musgrave - Green Bay Packers (Bye: 10) - Might be the most skilled Packers Tight End since Jermichael Finley.
16. Pat Friermuth - Pittsburgh Steelers (Bye: 9) - I like the Muth but I don’t love him.
17. Brock Bowers - Las Vegas Raiders (Bye: 10) - Can the rookie TE curse be broken two years in a row?
Tier 5 - Backups that can play
18. Noah Fant - Seattle Seahawks (Bye: 10) - Has so much potential. Never utilized it.
19. Hunter Henry - New England Patriots (Bye: 14) - Tight Ends are a rookies best friend.
20. Tyler Conklin - New York Jets (Bye: 12) - Has good catching ability and will be productive with Rodgers.
21. Cade Otton - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Bye: 11) - Another guy with good hands.
22. Mike Gesicki - Cincinnati Bengals (Bye: 12) - One would thing Burrow would use him.
23. Juwan Johnson - New Orleans Saints (Bye: 12) - Nice. he’s got great. He’s nice. The use of Taysom Hill kills his value.
24. Hayden Hurst - LA Chargers (Bye: 5) - Herbert has to throw to someone.
25. Chig Okonkwo - Tennessee Titans (Bye: 5) - Value plummets with the arrival of Ridley and Boyd.
Tier 6 - TE are afterthoughts in these offenses
26. Zach Ertz - Washington Commanders (Bye: 14) - Early season guy only. Ben Sinnott will take this job.
27. Tyler Higbee - LA Rams (Bye: 6) - Afterthought if Kupp and Nacua are healthy.
28. Ja’Tavion Sanders - Carolina Panthers (Bye: 11) - Rookie tight end. Don’t expect too much.
29. Michael Mayer - Las Vegas Raiders (Bye: 10) - If Bowers wasn’t an alien I’d be all in on him. A two TE set isn’t out of the question.
30. Jonnu Smith - Miami Dolphins (Bye: 6) - Smith has always been talented, but the Dolphins offense rarely uses their TE’s.
31. Taysom Hill - New Orleans Saints (Bye: 12) - Ultimate feast or famine.
32. Isaiah Likely - Baltimore Ravens (Bye: 14) - Potential to be elite. Wouldn’t rule out a Gronk and Hernandez situation in Baltimore (minus the murder).
Tier 7 - Someone Gotta Play the Position
33. Jelani Woods - Indianapolis Colts (Bye: 14) - =Not a real threat in the passing game.
34. Ben Sinnott - Washington Commanders (Bye: 14) - Will come along slowly.
35. Greg Dulcich - Denver Broncos (Bye: 14) - Got benched last year.
36. Dawson Knox - Buffalo Bills (Bye: 12) - Will still get looks, but clearly TE2 now in Buffalo.
37. Gerald Everett - Chicago Bears (Bye: 7) - Has moments.
38. Tucker Kraft - Green Bay Packers (Bye: 10) - Cool.
39. Noah Gray - Kansas City Chiefs (Bye: 6) - Shows up like a full moon.
40. Theo Johnson - New York Giants (Bye: 11) - Daniel Jones.
